By using ATAR Predictions QLD (“the Service”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

2. Accounts and Access

  • Schools may share their login with staff at the same school, but accounts must not be shared outside the school.
  • You are responsible for keeping login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.

3. Acceptable Use

You must not:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to bypass, disable, or interfere with the Service’s security features.
  • Copy, modify, or redistribute the Service’s content or software except as needed for legitimate educational use at your school.
  • Use the Service in a way that harms or disrupts its operation.

4. Service Management

We may monitor usage, restrict access, or suspend accounts if we reasonably believe the Terms have been breached or to protect the Service’s operation.

5. Accuracy of Predictions

ATAR Predictions QLD provides estimates only. No guarantee is made regarding actual ATAR results.

6. Payments and Refunds

  • Subscription fees are payable in advance and are non-refundable except where required by law.
  • Pricing is available on our website.

7. Data Handling

The Service processes all uploaded student data locally on your device. No student data is sent to our servers. For details, see our Privacy Policy.

8. Availability and Liability

We aim to provide reliable access, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage resulting from your use of, or inability to use, the Service.

9. Electronic Communications

By using the Service, you agree to receive notices and communications electronically.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time by posting the revised version on our website. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Disputes will be handled in Queensland courts.

12. Force Majeure

We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.

Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

ATAR Predictions QLD is operated by Hopefield Labs Pty Ltd (“we”, “our”, “us”), based in Queensland, Australia.

We provide ATAR prediction tools to Queensland schools.

This policy explains how we handle personal information in compliance with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

2. Who Uses Our Service

Our platform is used primarily by teachers and school administrators.

Students do not create accounts or directly access the paid system.

3. Information We Collect

When creating an account, we may collect:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • School name
  • Role (e.g., teacher, administrator)
  • Password (securely hashed, never stored in plain text)

If you make a purchase or receive an invoice, we may also collect billing contact details.

4. Student Data Processing

We do not collect, upload, or store any identifiable student data on our servers.

All student data entered into our tools — including the free ATAR calculator on our home page — is processed entirely within your web browser on your device. The student data you enter is not transmitted to us and cannot be used to identify students.

5. Technical Data, Cookies and Analytics

We may collect non-student technical information such as:

  • Browser type, device type, operating system
  • IP address and approximate location
  • Pages viewed and actions taken on the site

We may use cookies, browser local storage, or similar technologies to support authentication, remember preferences, and collect usage analytics.

We use third-party analytics providers to help us understand how our platform is used. These providers may process account information (e.g., email address) and technical data, and may store this information overseas.

No student data is ever sent to analytics providers.

6. How We Store and Protect Your Data

  • Our website is hosted by a trusted cloud hosting provider.
  • Authentication and account data are stored in a secure database service.
  • Payment processing is handled by a PCI-compliant payment processor — we do not store credit card details.
  • Data is encrypted in transit and stored securely.
  • Access to account data is restricted to authorised personnel only.
  • Backups of account data are managed by our service providers.

7. Where Your Information is Stored

We use trusted, well-established service providers to host our platform, manage accounts, process payments, and provide analytics.

Some account and billing information may be stored or processed in secure data centres located outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union.

These providers meet strict security standards and contractual privacy obligations.

No student data is ever transmitted or stored outside your device.

8. How We Use Your Information

We use account and billing information to:

  • Create and manage user accounts
  • Provide access to the platform
  • Process payments and subscriptions
  • Issue invoices and manage billing
  • Communicate with you about your account or our services
  • Improve the platform and user experience

9. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell personal information.

We only share account-related information with trusted service providers necessary to operate the platform (as outlined in section 7).

No student data is ever shared with any third party.

10. Retention and Deletion

  • We keep account and billing information while your account is active and for up to 24 months after inactivity.
  • Inactivity means no login or other use of the account for a continuous period of 24 months.
  • If you close your account or request deletion, we will delete your personal information unless required by law to retain it.
  • You can request deletion by emailing [email protected].

11. Your Rights

You may request to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccuracies in your information
  • Request deletion of your personal information

We will respond in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles.

12. Security and Breach Notification

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information.

If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm (as defined in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth)), we will notify affected users and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by law.

If we make significant changes we will notify account holders by email or through the platform before they take effect.
